The Nairobi Snake Park sits within the grounds of the Nairobi National Museum and holds a comprehensive living collection of East African reptiles. Most of Kenya’s venomous species are here, including the black mamba, green mamba, puff adder, Gaboon viper, spitting cobra and rock python, alongside crocodiles, tortoises and a range of lizards.
Beyond the obvious appeal, the park does serious work on snakebite awareness, which matters in a country where bites remain a real rural health problem. Guides explain which species are dangerous, which are harmless, how to tell them apart and what to do in the event of a bite. It takes about an hour and combines naturally with the museum next door. Entrance fees, hotel transfers, mineral water and a guide are included.
