The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most celebrated wilderness, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose name means endless plains in the Maasai language. Stretching across the Mara and Simiyu regions, it forms the northern reaches of the greater Serengeti-Mara ecosystem shared with Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
The park is renowned above all for the Great Wildebeest Migration, when over two million wildebeest and zebra move in a continuous circuit across its grasslands. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti holds exceptional resident populations of lion, leopard and cheetah, making every game drive a chance at extraordinary sightings.
Park fees and current park regulations are published by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA).
