The Mount Kenya National Park rises in the central highlands of Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak after Kilimanjaro and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its glacier-capped summit, dramatic rock spires and rings of alpine moorland make it one of the continent’s most striking trekking destinations.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya offers a genuine climbing challenge on its higher peaks alongside accessible trekking routes for hikers of all experience levels. Its lower forested slopes are home to elephant, buffalo and a wealth of birdlife rarely associated with mountain trekking.
Park entry fees, opening hours and current conservation regulations are published by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
