The Rift Valley's Gentle Giant

Lake Naivasha – Kenya

The Lake Naivasha sits within Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, one of the few freshwater lakes in a region dominated by soda lakes. Ringed by acacia woodland and dramatic escarpment views, it lies just two hours from Nairobi, making it a popular weekend escape.

The lake supports one of Kenya’s largest hippo populations along with rich birdlife and, on nearby Crescent Island, wildlife that can be viewed safely on foot. Its calm waters make it one of the few places in Kenya to safari by boat.

Park entry fees, opening hours and current conservation regulations are published by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
